Evansville, Ind. - The USI Men's Rugby Club defeated DePauw University on Saturday in a shutout victory, the final score at the end of the contest was 93 - 0.
DePauw University was USI's first match in the Indiana Rugby Union conference.

In the opening minutes of the match junior back Jacob Lewis scored the first try of the game. Minutes later Lewis would go on to score his second try of the game.
The Screaming Eagles kept aggressively attacking the try line for the remainder of the day.
In the span of the first half six different players scored nine tries. Players included: Lewis, Victor Richardson, Aaron Gehlhausen, Adam Ferrari, Doug Rose and Tyler Duke. This would lead to a half time score of 55 - 0.
Tries scored by senior forward Aaron Gellhausen and freshmen back Victor Richardson were their first for the club.
Junior back Justin Mizen would attempt all conversion kicks during the first half, he would convert five of his nine kicks for the day.
USI Rugby continued to attack the try line at the start of the second half which lead to Richardson's second try of the day.
DePauw mounted an offensive and came close to ending USI Rugby's shutout hopes, but the Screaming Eagles successfully defended its try line on several occasions to keep the game scoreless for DePauw.
Six tries were scored in the second half. Richardson, David Shields, Tyler Pipes, Joe French, and Ryan Potendyk would scores tries for USI during the second half.
The tries scored by Potendyk and French were their first for the club.
Richardson and Duke would end up scoring three tries each for USI.
George Bristow and Pipes would attempt conversion kicks for the second half of the match. Bristow and Pipes were both two of three for his conversion kicks for the day.
The USI Men's Rugby Club's next match is at the Vanderbilt Oak Leaf Cup which takes place Sept. 20 - 22.
The club's next conference game is Sept. 28 versus Indiana State University. That game will be played at home at 12 p.m. central time on USI Rugby's game field (Clarke Lane).
